Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
