Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family challenged several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.

Furthermore refuted published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery.
