Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

American performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Television Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

The actor was seen in a couple of episodes of Friends as character Monica's partner a doctor named Roger.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
