The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first World Series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, making him third in history after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
